The tournament directorate has finalized the schedule for the men's semi-finals of the Olympic tournament to be played on Friday at Santagiulia.
The early game at 16.40 will feature Canada and Finland. These teams last played in the semi-finals in 1994, Canada winning, 5-3, en route to a silver medal after Peter Forsberg’s historic shootout winner from Tre Kronor in the gold-medal game.
Canada has won three of the last four NHL/Olympics (2002, 2010, 2014) and the Finns are reigning Olympic champions from 2022.
The late game, 21.10, will include the United States and Slovakia. They have never played as late as the semi-finals at the Olympics. The Americans have won two gold medals at the Olympics, both on home ice (1960, 1980). The Slovaks won bronze last year, their only Olympic medal to date.
